At Among the Pages, we believe that learning should be fun and engaging. Students must feel welcome, safe and understood before academic issues can be addressed. We strive to promote literacy for the dyslexic individual through the use of multi-sensory lessons.

/ Dyslexia Therapy
|
“Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge.”

Exploring creative depths |
A lasting journey |
Dyslexia therapy provides direct, explicit, systematic, multi-sensory instruction designed to engage students utilizing auditory, visual and kinesthetic modalities. Dyslexia therapy addresses all areas of reading and language including: phonological awareness, vocabulary, reading fluency, reading comprehension, spelling, cursive handwriting, alphabet/dictionary skills, and oral into written expression.
|
Dyslexia Therapy is at minimum a two year process. Clients are exposed to information through a "slow drip method", little bits of information at a time with a built in review, so as not to overwhelm the learner.
